Food waste is a global problem.

One third of food produced for human consumption is wasted, equating to $940 billion in economic loss per annum.

This level of waste equates to:

One third of agricultural land used

25% of freshwater used

8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions

If food waste were a country, it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gas, after USA and China. (UNEP)

When it comes to fruits and vegetables,

Almost half (45%) of fruits and vegetables are wasted.

At the same time,

2 billion people across the globe do not have sufficient access to safe, nutritious food.
